How many Navigation Satellites are Orbiting the Earth?
Science homework in for tomorrow. Help please!! thanks:)|||Kate your in big toruble you shouldn't ask questions online. Come with me with your planner tomorrow. Thank You.
Tom Fisher|||Well there are two systems - The American one (U.S.A) GPS and the Russian GLOSNASS system (think that's how it's spelt). Also believe that there is a European system GALILEO but not sure if this is in place yet, it will have about 18 satellites to start with and 30 in total including spares. The American system I believe had 23 satellites originally, but there maybe one or two more (spares) now. Don't know how many the Russian system has but guess similar as the U.S.A. These satellites are located, if my memory serves me well, at about a 53 degree angle between each. So the number is 23 + 18 + another say 23 Russian ones. You need a minimum of 3 satellite tos obtain a reasonable 'fix' - Hope this rough quick answer is sufficient.
