Why is the satellite navigation system tom tom called tom tom?

it is an abbreviation of the journey TO and frOM. which makes TOM TOM (to -from, to-from)

I just made that all up but it sounds convincing.|||cuz this guy was soo obsesed wid himself|||Well----- a Tom Tom is a drum, and it may tell you where to go-----other than that ----------Don't know! a very good question though!!|||The name was chosen because the partners in the company liked the sound of the name (look at the entry for 2001 at the link below)

It also says at the bottom of the page:-

"Why "TomTom"?

Some experts say that language may have begun with drumming, and simple drums like the double-headed Native American tom-tom and the talking drums of Africa, have always been used for signaling, imitating the pitch patterns of language and transmitting messages over many miles. Just like us."
