17 days ago I brought a BMW 5 Series for a car dealer (AutoPlanet) and the employee salesperson said that the car had Satellite navigation and it was even displayed on the car itself, however when getting the car home we found out that it doesn't actually have Navigation and Handsfree bluetooth like the salesperson said. What are my consumer rights?|||In the UK, I duno, I'm in the US.
But you posted "We found..."
Hopefully, you had someone w/ you who witnessed the saleperson's statement and could be your witness in court if need be.
The retail auto industry in the US is riddled w/ fraud and incompetence, and that's complicated by 50 different sets of state laws that apply.
Every, or almost every US state has Small Claims Courts with simplified procedures for situations like yours.
Hopefully, it was an oversight by the seller and they'l fix it.
If not, I'd sue and notify the regulators like consumer protection agencies on various levels of govt.
But I'm suspicious of oversight situations that benefit the seller. In the US, I'd always have someone w/ me in car shopping to act as a witness.
And in taking a vehicle in for service to be a witness for its condition, ie, no torn-off bumpers or out-side mirrors, gouges in the body, battery acid spilled on seats %26amp; carpet, etc etc.
And I'd demand a very detailed Bill of Sale itemizing what's included.|||The car was not sold as described to you. Since you purchased the vehicle following the salesman's description you should be entitled to a refund. Check out a website called honest-john. If you like the car otherwise then go back and see if some kind of a deal can be done. all of the cars controls should have been shown to you working before you left the forecourt.|||Get yourself to your local Trading Standards and tell them your story . Do take your recite and any paperwork you have like the advert you saw the car for sale with you . They will sort them out for you.
