I just bought a combination PDA with GPS and this thing is so cool. It is the Garmin iQue 3600 and there is no service fee for using the satellites. I understand that this is because the satellites are owned by the Government and they were paid for by our tax dollars. I suggest you take advantage of the benefits from this program.|||It is free. That was the government condition in order to finance GPS satellites. This service is accessible to the public, but with a margin of error of 900 ft.|||The margin of error was introduced in order to give US troops an advantage (they got the full accuracy of the system) this has however been turned off years ago and civilians now also get the full accuracy. Though the US reserves the right to switch this inaccuracy back on.

|||thanks a lot buddy|||cool
i didnt know that
(just got 2 points)|||Although the service is free, the devices using the navigation signal are most certainly not free.
The average resolution for ground location is about 3 feet, and not the hundreds of feet cited elsewhere. If the accuracy was 900 feet, the accuracy would be about as accurate as 108 football fields square.
