hi
thinking of buying the above satnav, does any one now how much it costs for the camera updates and how long the ones last on it when you buy it to the time you needs to update it ?
thanks|||拢19.95 for a year.
It doesn't matter which model as its a common file.
Providing you register with them they will email you when it's due|||As fellside says 19.95 for a year. The pre-loaded camera file possibly allows one update to the current version after purchase, but there are weekly updates. I would see how long the free updates last and then buy a year's subscription. On line it can be done instantly provided you have a good internet connection and have installed the TomTom Home software

Why is the satellite navigation system tom tom called tom tom?
it is an abbreviation of the journey TO and frOM. which makes TOM TOM (to -from, to-from)
I just made that all up but it sounds convincing.|||cuz this guy was soo obsesed wid himself|||Well----- a Tom Tom is a drum, and it may tell you where to go-----other than that ----------Don't know! a very good question though!!|||The name was chosen because the partners in the company liked the sound of the name (look at the entry for 2001 at the link below)
It also says at the bottom of the page:-
"Why "TomTom"?
Some experts say that language may have begun with drumming, and simple drums like the double-headed Native American tom-tom and the talking drums of Africa, have always been used for signaling, imitating the pitch patterns of language and transmitting messages over many miles. Just like us."

Which is good PDA for satellite navigation in the UK?
I believe ETEN is a good choice.
Do UK Satellite Navigation (sat nav) systems work in America?
Hi! We are thinking of going to California for a driving holiday later in the year. We have also been considering buying a Sat Nav for general use in the UK. We were wondering whether if we bought one now it would also cover the US, as if just some do it would affect which one we chose. Which make/model would be our best option (no idea on budget as we've not looked around yet - but preferably not the top of the range very expensive ones). Something straight forward to use would be best. Thanks for your time.|||Most (like Tom Tom) only cover Uk and Europe but I believe you can download upgrades from the internet to some models for other countries.

http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/?TT=鈥?/a>|||There's nothing to stop it from technically working, but if it doesn't have the map data for the US then it's pretty useless!|||depends .. you have to get ones that support the US
optitional cost..
and also default it to america..
tom tom are the most known one. but if you get it with america maps on.. obviously u will have to pay for the UK ones..
they aren't that expensive , so due to warrenty issues.. etc would be better to get one in the uk|||A GPS will work anywhere in the world. The satellites they use orbit the entire earth and can be received anywhere. As the others point out, you need the appropriate maps. Most of the brands offer downloads for areas they don't have installed when purchased. Just make sure that the one you buy does offer this download service.

For Navigation satellite, elevation angle E= -10 deg. Is it possible?
In a scientific discussion, someone showed some data for navigation satellite with elevation angle E = -10 to +15 degree. I asked that E(min) = 5 deg. How come it be negative? The answer I got, ' for navigation satellite negative E is also acceptable'. I asked again what is the physical meaning of negative E. But I was neglected... Please help me out.. I really want to know...was I correct or not ?|||I was told a negative elevation angle of 10 degrees, means it is 10 degrees BELLOW your horizon.
Elevation angles are normally calculated relevant to the equator. This is because satellites have to orbit at a fixed height if they are to remain geostationary and this takes least energy at the equator due to the Earth's angular velocity being greatest there.
You might want to check out "inclined orbits" as well? They are similar, but relevant to the equator, rather than your horizon.
I hope this helps!|||hi...the possible answer to your question is...because the horizon is approx 11 miles standing at sea level, then, because of the curvature of the earth then the satellite elevation can/could be below the earths curvature which could aquate to the reading of -10 degrees.
therefore as stated...angle E = -10 to +15
10 deg below the curvature, and, 15 deg above the curvature.

Saab 95 2004 satellite navigation system?
Can anyone suggest where i can get a fitted saab satelltie navigation system for a saab 95 vector. It does not have to be new. It would cost me 拢2200 to get one fitted by saab. I have tried ebay but i have had no luck. Anyone know anywhere else. I am in the uk.|||If i were you i'd buy a Tom Tom...|||sometimes its relaxing to put pencils in crabby hippos.|||your better off with a road atlas, honestly m8.
Does a mobile phone need to have any particular feature for me to use satellite navigation (sat-nav) in it?
thanks everyone|||well some phones have sat chips, but there are other phones that support a-gps. a-gps is assisted gps. Your phone must support that.
