How to set bluetooth for 2006 VW passat with nav?

I just bought a 2006 Passat with blue tooth and navigation. I see the phone icon on the steering wheel but I'm not sure how to sync up my phone. I've seen advise to use the radio menu but I have satellite radio as part of the navigation system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.|||Consult to the dealer or the handbook in your car.|||There is no bluetooth availability in 2006. The button is there... but doesn't work.
